There have been a few brave souls within the paranormal community who have briefly made mention of it, but rest assured that it’s true.
The past ten years has seen a marked increase in new home hauntings.
But wait there’s more.
Because there has also been an increase in the overall intensity regarding paranormal activity. Some of which has reacted violently towards paranormal researchers and investigators.
The reason for this may in theory be related to the constant demand for more rural regional land development for housing . Which since the passage of NEPA in 1970, has seen more than 19 million acres of once unspoiled open land now converted to rural housing projects and tracts. Which has caused many forms of wildlife to encroach closer to human settlements in search of shelter and food resources.
But another, often little discussed aspect of the housing development growth has been the occasional isolation or forced transfer of antiquated burial sites to alternate locations. Some of which depending on it’s overall age have found it’s deceased occupants unceremoniously dumped in secret or private locations and thus forgotten once dwelt with.
In consideration of the actual nature of spirits and ghosts.
In also taking into account the historical significance of stories and legends relating to the haunting of woodlands and other remote locations and their structures. Is it not so far fetched to surmise that the spirits of those who had once been of the living might find it more comforting or at least somehow still ingrained in their collective consciousness, the need for structural habitation?
Where perhaps as more homesteads steadily encroach on what woodlands still remain might it theoretically be possible that the spirit of the once living may also find their place within newer homes.
Haunted Woods
It may be that most spirits will seek out locations such as woodland forests of which to inhabit instead of homes where there is less chance of interaction with the living. But because such options are steadily dwindling due to urban expansion, may force them to change their preference of remaining apart from the living.
Which might explain why some spirits have demonstrated hostility towards the living, first by being displaced, and then forced into cohabitation which then may make some spirits territorial over their newer surroundings.
This may all sound rather speculative.
But over the last 30 plus years of conducting investigations and research, have there been experienced by both myself and others a steady increase of newer homes being haunted along with an increase of paranormal violent response.

My own personal experience has been that residual energies deposited in homes have created a paranormal response. Many negative people leave their auric energies within the home and sensitive people, like myself, are dramatically affected.
I completely agree with you though that hauntings are on the rise, which leaves me to wonder why there seems to be more of the dead that are not at rest.
